Work of ReMORI

ReMORI Yusuhara Reiwa Forest Council
What’s ReMORI?
It’s an organization set up by Yusuhara Town in Kochi Prefecture to foster and train the next generation of forestry professionals. Members from local timber processing factories and construction companies are taking the lead in hiring forestry workers and often participate in activities to raise awareness of the benefits and importance of forests.
ReMORI has set an "Employment Target" of 20 new forestry workers by 2025, and supports those who are aiming to become forestry technicians in obtaining the skills and qualifications they need.

"ReMORI" is a coined word that combines "Re" (revitalization) and "MORI" (protection, forest).
The upward arrow points towards the forests of Yusuhara.

The mission of ReMORI
In order to properlyrestore the value of forests, we:
1 Foster the next generation of forestry professionals.
2 Increase the number of hardwood forests
3 Promote the beauty of forests
4 Provide areas for people to play & learn in forests and around trees.
5 Create a system that links forests to income

In Yusuhara Town, forests are not just places for log production. They have been traditionally revered as sacred places for prayers. Now, we would like to re-evaluate the value of forests.
We hope to think together with everyone about how we can live together in harmony with forests and nature in the future, and hope to gradually put these thoughts into action.
